                                       INDIANA'S MOST ACTIVE THUNDERBIRD CLUB

Thank you for your interest in the Hoosier Vintage Thunderbird Club. We are located mostly in Northern Indiana, but we also have members from all over the state and also Northwest Ohio. We are a chapter of Vintage Thunderbird Club International, which covers all of the U.S. and even have chapters in Australia, and England.  http://www.vintagethunderbirdclub.org  We are in the North Central Region. While it isn’t mandatory, I would encourage all of our members to join the National Club.  Many of our members enjoy attending Regional and International VTCI Conventions.

Our member’s cars range from “beautifully restored,” to “fun drivers,” to “under construction.”  So don't think you have to have a perfect car to join our club.  We welcome all. We have Thunderbirds ranging from 1955 to the new 2002-2005 models. In fact, you aren’t even required to own a Thunderbird to join our club. Our focus will always be on T-Birds, but we do have members with multiple collector cars.

Generally we meet in the early spring to plan our events for the car show season. We usually include some car shows, a Spring and Fall Cruise, a summer picnic, tours of auto related museums, etc. We also include joint events with other Thunderbird Clubs, plus we have an annual joint event with The Cadillac and LaSalle Club of Indiana called "Tail Fins and Tail Feathers."

Everyone gets a say in what we plan to do for the season. Some of our member’s cars have been judged number one “Senior” cars that have taken first place in an International show. Others are in it more for the camaraderie. We try not to take ourselves too seriously with our main goal being to have FUN!

I hope that our club can meet your needs. Our dues are a very reasonable $20.00 per year and membership includes your spouse. Click on "Membership" at the top of this page to download a club application.  If you decide to become a member, please send your application to our club treasurer listed on the application. I will put you on our mailing list.

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to meeting you.

Best Regards,
Roger Noll, President

HOOSIER VINTAGE THUNDERBIRD CLUB, INC. NEWS

                                          Indiana's Most Active Thunderbird Club

February. 2010

Dear Club Members,

Our first event of the season was our annual "After The Holiday's" Party hosted by Doug and Karen McConnell at their home near Leo, Indiana.  The weather outside was frightful with temperatures a crisp 9 degrees.  We were all snug inside filling our tummy's with good food and drink of many varieties.

Joining us were Lowell and Carroll Leper, Ric Echler, Dick and Gerry Gervais, Bud and Freda Gibson, Paul Karris and Barb DeFord, Jim McCann and Sandy, Greg, Amy, and Brianna Minnich, Bob and Pam Prater, Clyde and Helen Stevens, Windell and Rita Stevens, Rob and Velen Webb, Darrell and Sue Will, our hosts, Doug and Karen McConnell, and myself.  It was our first time meeting Rob and Velen Webb who drove up all the way from Noblesville.  They seemed to fit right in with our Thunderbird family and we hope to see more of them at future events.

We again played a car trivia game and managed to get through it without any fights breaking out.  It ended abruptly when the smell of food overtook our ability to think clearly and it was time to eat.  To my surprise, we had not one, but two samples of my favorite, Pineapple Upside-down cake.  Thanks Helen and Sue!  We never did get back to the game when talk of Thunderbirds and our upcoming Convention ruled the night.

Our thanks to Doug and Karen for inviting us back into their home.

Event Cooridinator Darrell Will has been very busy laying the ground work in making plans for our upcoming Convention.  He and I met with The Fort Wayne Visitor's Bureau recently and are finding them to be very useful in helping plan our event.

We are looking closely for a date and it looks as if the first to mid-August may be our best bet.  We were aiming for Mid July and have found the basketball tournements/clinics/camps  at Spiece Field House are filling our hotels during that time.  We will of course have to coordinate that with VTCI Officials.  We are also exploring hotels that would be able to accommodate our needs.  Much more will be needed to plan this event, but we are getting an early start and it will take many meetings to hone out the final details.

We will be meeting this Saturday, February 13th at 9:00 AM (8:00 AM if you want to include breakfast) at The Holiday Inn, 4111 Paul Shafer Drive, at Coliseum Blvd. in Fort Wayne to meet with hotel manegement and to tour the facillities.  They are eager to have our business and have been extreemly helpful with our planning process.  We hope you can join us.

March 20th will be our Kick-Off Planning Breakfast where we decide our events for the calendar year.  The time is 9:00 AM at the Waynewood Inn, 8421 Bluffton Road in Fort Wayne.  (Just North of The Airport Expressway.)  We will meet in their private dining room at the rear of the restaurant.  Please be thinking of fun things to do for the year.  Try to have the date of an event that you would like to include.  Also we will be holding an election of officers for the new year.  If you would like to be considered for any of our positions, just let us know.

Our club dues are now due.  If you haven't yet paid for them, please send a check to our club treasurer, Ric Echler.  Make the check out to HVTC, Inc.  They are also payable at any of our upcoming events.  They are still $20.00 and include your spouse or one other person.

See you Feb. 13th at The Holiday Inn or at our Kick-Off Breakfast on March 20th.  We would like to have an idea of who will be joining us at the hotel, so if you are planning on attending, please let me know.  Thanks.

Best regards,

Roger Noll, President
